Off Moreton yesterday
Headed out from Toorbul on "Meherio" skippered by good mate Ben for the grounds off Moreton. Rounded the cape and met about 15 knts nth easterly with 20-25 knt rain squalls coming through. Noticed a few boats out at Roberts and Smith's and once round the cape probably about half a dozen down towards shallow tempest. Dropped lines about 5 am in around 80 meters with whole pillies on gangs with just enough weight to find bottom. We were finding bottom with an 8 ball but the wind was pushing us along at a good pace even with the sea anchor out. Bagged 6 School size Snappery squire around 3-4kg in 3 drifts then not much happened after that. Wind swung around to the south, south east and we headed in closer to our pearly spots. Bagged one keeper out of a few under size ones. The fish were on the bite from 5AM to about 630AM then it all shut down. Anyway, perserviered with ordinary conditions for a good feed, and starting to come up with the goods after a lot of trial and error to finally bag a few good fish consistantly is worth it.
Cheers Adds...
