Sounder Power Sources?
G'day guys,
Just wondering, for those of you that have a tinnie and haven't bothered with
electric start. How do you power your sounder ? Have a car battery hooked up to lights, radio, sounder etc.. or separate power sources ??
Im mostly wondering because my garmin sounder seems to fail when using old car batteries, (punching out around 8-12 amps).
I've heard of Motorcycle batteries used, a couple of 6Ver joined up.. even separate batteries for every appliance ( a little crazy I think).
Any experences please throw it out there...

Re: Sounder Power Sources?
I have LED nav lights, LED anchor light, Garmin 300C sounder and GME 27mhz radio all running of an AmpTech AGM 12v 18Ah battery from the boat shop ($89). All works fine. Have made a fixed battery box for my dinghy out of plywood and inside use bus bars for +ve and -ve wire connections.

Re: Sounder Power Sources?
All I ever used in my old tinnie was a hd truck battery.
Never had any probs running the sounder and all lights for whole night.
But I must say you should put it on charge a few nights before going out. Especially if you have not used thew battery in a while.
