    C-MAP Question?

    Hi everyone,
Do any of you have the latest C-Map Max march 2008 update? I Have the 2006 version and rang Jeppesen marine ( C-Map agents ). They advised me the chart is now all of Australia and the Arial photos of marinas + notice to mariners have been updated. They could not tell me if there is any updates on the contour lines, depths, etc for my area ( south coast of WA ). The site shows there have been updates for just about all of the australian areas but if its is only minor stuff I am not sure if I want to pay $180 ( quote by Jeppesen ) for the update. I am not that fussed on marina updates etc, as I am an offshore fisherman. If anyone has the update any info on the improvement in your area would be appreciated.

    Thanks Mal.

If you look on the C-Map web site I think you can look at what changes have been made to the card maps

Thanks for the reply, I had a look and it states that the area has been updated but it does not say what has been done. I dont want to pay for an upgrade if say a couple of markers are the only update. Some of the areas I fish in have not been charted very well for reef, depth or contours at all on my current map boundries. These are beach launch areas that are not well fished or known. I kinda hoped these areas have been updated as stated on the web site to include these things. Jeppersen were unable to give me this info maybe I will try cmap international contact.

    Re: C-MAP Question?

The only changes usually made are changing channel markers, changing channels marinas etc. For changes to contour lines etc that would take a hydrographic survey which is very expensive and not usually done unless their has been major changes to the ocean floor. As for updating this info for remoted areas your dreaming. A lot of the info contained in c map cards or any other electronic maps comes from the original admiralty charts.
