    Caloundra info please

This Wednesday I will be starting a 10 day holiday to Caloundra, I was planning to tow my boat up to do some fishing in the passage.

Can anybody who lives in the area or has maybe seen the passage today tell me if the water is in flood or a chocolate colour.

If so would it be worth bothering trying to fish over the next couple of weeks

    All information appreceated

i am going up there this weekend hopefully the water isn't too bad. it won't be too bad depending on which part of caloundra i am staying at bulcock beach where the water will still be ok but not its clearest. what do you fish for and what do you use?

goodluck when you go i will be chasing bream on hb's and sp's and hopefully pick up a new pb. try the flats along golden as you have a good chance at a feed of flathead. the local jetties and flats and drop offs will put you into a chance of a bream. with this fresh water try using a bit more of a scented lure like gulps and s -factor as the fish will be relying on their scent. maybe we can get together for a fish while i am there.

Do bears s... in the woods!, If it was a choice between 10days of shopping excursions with Mrs and mountain range devonshire teas or sitting in the passage in a 40knt wind, hmmm? .

I would suggest get all the family tourist trips out in the first few days while the weathers crap. Then hopefully will clear up by Thursday for Friday.

Passage looked like soup today. Lots and lots of rain here today. Flooding in some areas . Depends on where you go. Still if the swell drops by the weekend I am going out.

I just spoke to somebody up at Caloundra and they told me that the water is very dirty.

Lets hope it clears up enough by the weekend so that we can catch a few, I'll still take my boat, its a yellow coxcraft with a 40hp johnson if you see me.

Are you fishing in that comp on the weekend?

    Hi,

I am heading to caloundra this weekend too, picking up my new boat (400 hornet trophy full decked out) and hopefully fishing in the passage. Will be using ecogear vx's in the deeper parts and hb's and sp's around the flats. My mate last week before the rain pulled out a 1.35kg bream in the passage so hope'n to get one of them!

ooh thats a great bream do you know what it measured? your new boat sounds awesome hopefully you get onto a few bream. i have heard there is a few goldens around at the moment near the bar so flicking plastics around here should produce a few goldens up to 4kg. if ou want to use the vx's go out the front of the boardwalk and work it near the channel marker, often there is a few big bream hanging around the bottom of it but there is a bit of current. also work the rockwalls and jetties around bulcock beach, plenty of nice bream and cod and a few reef species hang around the rocks and jetties. saying this last time i stayed at watermark resort which i am staying at this time i caught a 35cm parrot fish, but the water was very clear so maybe not too many reefies around. if i see you go past i will give you a wave. goodluck.
