Navionics Platinum vs Gold

G'day Ausfishers

How useful is Navionics Platinum compared to Navionics Gold? I like the idea of 3D views but is it really helpful in locating FISH STRUCTURE in Moreton Bay and offshore?

Any tips greatly appreciated.

I rang old mate from bonzaimports in US he recons the platinum is not worth the extra bucks

After looking into it a bit more I agree. It appears the 3D feature only converts the existing contour lines into a 3D image. I think it would be more useful to use the contour lines on the Gold chart to put you in likely spots, then sound around the actual structure that may hold bait and/or fish.

Like you said, better off spending the extra money elsewhere - like on a better sounder.

Also, does anyone know how can you find out what is the lastest version of a Navionics gold chart, when the next update is coming out, and what info is updated?
