You would save around $200 by buying from O/S.

Can pickup a 620 Furuno with a 600w airmar transom transducer locally for $1150. What do you think compared to other local prices and overseas.

got mine US,
have visa bill in front of me, $811.88 unit only. includes $19.80 Visa conversion fees. "thieves"
I saw on Aus website tranny P66 $132.
If you don't care about $200 then send me some.!!!!!!!!!
Robbo, I've been doing the same research and you'll struggle to beat the current deal in Oz. There's also a cash rebate on the unit if purchased locally. Have you looked into this? $75 on the purchase of a fcv620 and $150 on the fcv585

Thanks guys, using the $75 rebate brings the O/S and local option down to within $100. I know $100 is still $100 but for peace of mind with service and warranty I think I will go locally.
Cheers
Robbo
If any of you blokes want to save some $$ on the transducer, I have a used Airmar P79 600w In-Hull transducer to suit the FCV-620 that i no longer require, if anyone is interested make me on offer.
Update:
Transducer has been taken, thanks everyone.

Seems like the Furuno "grey imports" are being targeting all around.
1. Prices in the US saw a jump of around $100 USD in April.
2. The cash back offer in OZ is reducing the difference. I wish I had have bought one in March .
I wonder if the US is getting a cash back deal for locals?
Also wonder what the US price increase did to the furuno sales in the US.
With their economy downturn and some stiffening competiton I wouldn't expect the US market to be booming for Furuno.
I dont understand the rational behind this price increase unless it is specifially targeted at stopping US furnuno exports to support the other countries markets (read-inflate margins/stop true global market economy).
Furuno are blaming the falling greenback (not tailor, USD). Am now starting to look at other models instead of the 620 I had planned to buy.
Your lost in not getting the 620 i just love mine ! Furuno win more NMEA awards than any other electronics company and they dont fail to offen as Fishon Marine stated & i don't think Furuno will worry if you don't buy a 620 but you should go see Aarron at Bia's i got mine at the tackle & Tinnie show $1150.00 than i got $75 back from Taylors which i am still waiting for so i rang Taylors today and they said i should get this week as they have been flat chat sending checks out and they have now extended cash back till end of Audust 08 so not all buy from overseas .
Joe
I do like the sound of the $1150 with $75 back. Who would be good to see with that price on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane?
Cheers

After much research I got myself a furuno fcv585 from trymax in Capalaba (Cleveland rd) Brisbane and will get around to sending off the cash back this week as it's worth $150. I also want to get some Glomex antennas from Jim when I get more cash as my oldman wants a VHF as the 27meg is stuffed and I want new Glomex as well. My 3rd Pacific POS has fallen off the boat!!!
Stevea, the green back is at an all time low so I would think that any imports into the USA using US$ would be affected by the weaker US$, not to mention US dealers doing some great deals because their economy as just about stalled. Check out the prices of 2nd hand boats in USA, theres some awesome deals to be had!!
Bought the 620 today for $1150 including 600w transom transducer.
nice sounder mate - I spoke to trymax about the possibility of the 585 with a 1kw sounder for frying fish and I just about fell out of my chair...will be getting to know my Garmin a bit better (I was only going to get a dedicated finder because the Garmin is a combo, but I can live with that for the price of a new one..although the Lowrance 535 (or whatever its called the 480x480 dual beam on a 5 inch screen) is only about $550 with tranducer imported into OZ).
Cheers
