I havent put up a report for a while, so why its windy ill do a little report for the last month.
Ive been chasing the breambos a fair bit around the bay and in the canals of the goldy. Had a few good sessions on the blades fishing the Nerang with plenty of numbers and the odd decent fish. Some sessions catching over fifty bream. Once you find some fish with the little reaction baits you can catch fish after fish with 3-4 double hook ups per session not uncommon.
Also a few smaller jacks have made their way to the boat and a fair few larger models taking a few trophies back to their hidy holes.
Fishing the bay shallows has produced some quality fish of late with the biggest going 1.01kg. We have been targeting the fish with big topwater baits like the 65mm luckycraft sammy, tiemco red peper baby and megabass dog-x jr. The only bad thing about chasing these big bream in the 1-2ft of water around the bay islands is the amount of tailor that are around and willing to chew a $25 lure off with the first hit. The tailor havent been massive but the 40-50cm fish make for good fun on the 3lb tackle.
Ive also been targeting some kingys in the bay early in the morning and late in the arvo. Weve manage a few rats on the bream gear and found some bigger fish that we couldn't hold on 16lb braid close to locked up. Some of the fish we have seen in this spot have been up to around 10kg, but at this size i think i need to up the anti a bit to pull them out from tight structure. The fish have been taking poppers upto 120mm.
My little bros mate also managed a nice jewie on a snapper trip to peel which was a nice little bonus. Also got a decent cod at the start of the month that went 60cm and gave me plenty of curry on the 6lb gear.
Hopefully this wind dies down soon and we can get back out there amougst em. Hope you enjoy the pics
Cheers Whytey
