Re: Eels
Eels are the most slippery thing i have ever encountered. We used to wear rubber gloves when handling them just to get agrip on their skin, and to stop my stomach churning. They were the number one bait [ and still are] for gummy sharks down in Westernport bay. We used to fish the salt water in-flow streams and rivers and baited them with prawns and pillies. My father in law used to hate it when i used them for bait cos he loovveed smoked eel. I am not sure what species of eel they were, they were grey in color and about 1-1.5 meters in length. We also yused to catch the big conger eels down in Gippsland, and they were truly monsters, about 6 foot long and thick as, and have a nasty reputation for biting.
Good Luck

Re: Eels
ive seen people nail them to a tree(through the head) then cut just the skin around the neck, grab the skin and peel it all down in one bit. gutting them i presume you aim for the date and head north with a sharp knife.
