We have been catching some mighty snaps off the Gold Coast on the new Bozos Kruncha soft plastics. What has been interesting is the technique. stay in touch with the bottom , point the rod tip to the water and just tap the rod butt. it seems the less you do the better the result. I think the squid scent is what is really makin gthe difference.

Thats called 'shaking' works great when the snaps are bit lazy.
Not sure on the weight or the length but its an interesting technique that I hadnt used before. Interesting today I watched Fishing WA program and they were saying Snapper come to the bottom for feeding and swim mid water when they are cruising. That i scertainly what I have found and certainly using this technique obviously brings them to the plastic from a long way away. I know often they have been well up off the bottom. Plenty of other big ones have also been landed on th eGold Coast recently on these Bozos. have a look at this one that was sent to me. This was on a colour called The Colonel which is red and green like Nuclear Chicken. Works a treat.
Plenty of my snapper are now caught dead sticking just floating the plastic out there. Of coarse some day you need plenty of action to entice a strike its just a matter of find out whats turning them on i guess. As for plastic selection again my collection includes some pretty strange things but each works well on its day i don't think i have found a plastic that wont catch snapper actually.

Dead sticking is just that, not moving the rod at all. Basically put the plastic on a jig head that wont make it plummet to the bottom but drift through the water column so while your doing a drift its basically wafting along behind the boat close to the bottom. You would be surprised how effective it can be. It pays to have one rod in a rod holder dead sticking while you working/casting etc your other rod.Originally Posted by paul cooper

Yeh i tried the deadsticking method with a second rod last time I went out. Got a few fish on it, which I saw as a bonus, as they were fish i wouldnt have caught otherwise.
went and bought some bozos will keep you posted as to how they perform
tails look pretty good though and cheap as rigged already couldnt find any scented ones though
