Thread: Rigs And Baits

    Re: Rigs And Baits

Last trip out we got 120 plus winter whiting.

squid strips was the stand out performer

worm was very hit and miss (even live blood worm)

frozen prawns were a waste of time

strange that though because normally worms are right up there with live yabbies for being the best bait.

For snapper bait... use a whiting head.............................................. .....

    cheers

    whiting rigs

single hook on a short 2 foot trace, as light as possible (ie 4 - 6 lb) pea sized sinker, red tube with red bead over the hook.

alternatively put on a 3 foot trace with a pea sized sinker above trace. Tie one hook to the bottom of the trace, and another on a single dropper loop in the middle of the trace - but this rig is only worthwhile if they are really chewing and you are getting double hookups.

small long shanked hook. Smaller gets more hook ups, but they get swallowed more often. you need to balance out the small hook swallowing vs hook up ratio based on the size of whiting you are catching.

    cheers
