    my new off road camper

i've been looking around for an off road camper for a while now and have realised that people are paying bucket loads of $$$ for the trailer part with the pullout kitchen side of things which kills the space inside the trailer and getting a poor quality camper tent. I have managed to buy a new 7 x 4 off road trailer with 510mm high sides with highlander hitch and big suspension for $3200 and then had a camper top custom made for $6000 which consisted of 13OZ canvas sides and 15OZ canvas roof complete with fully enclosed annexe and floors and an extra 3 x 3m kids room which zips on which i find of the highest quality from checking out other camper places. i'd like to upload pics so ther people can see and take advantage off these great affordable campers. assistance would be appreciated.
    cheers.....Rob

not really considering another couple at noosa north shore paid $18,000 for an off road camper with a pull out kitchen and only come with an annexe not including floors or walls for it.....kitchens must be worth 12k these days ha?

i've seen the e-bay camper tops and they are going cheap at around $1200 which is fine if you only need 2 trips out of them and guess again if you think your getting a good deal for $1200 considering you can buy them from the docks for $250. i'd like to post pics but not sure how to.

    Hi Rob

Sounds good. What company did you use to get it done. Camper top sounds like the Camel Camper. I know at the recent show we had a large number of people just want to buy the top.

There is a good thread here about posting pics. Look forward to seeing them.

    Cheers

truth is that i had the trailer made by just trailers and the top was actually made by my mate and his father who actually used to make them for camel but obviously makes more $$$ going out on his own. P.S...added pics

mine wasn't built with a pullout kitchen.....don't have the room as they occupy too much valuable space

Re: my new off road camper

Does anyone know where you can buy the camper kitchen units seperately to install yourself?? (Either pull out or attach to rear door)
I bought the right trailer with huge tent & annex to suit my budget and left the accessories for fitting at a later date when cash is available. I don't really need the stove, just the unit/housing.

    Thanks Rob29
I did see this ad however as it was in WA I didn't bother. I didn't think it was good value either however that's all I could find so far.
I'll keep looking and phone around. Probably going to be cheaper to have a bracket made up locally. Thanks.

Re: my new off road camper

I had intended to build one from scratch, and budgeted $10k for the task. I approached a reputable canvas fabricator who quoted me $6k to do the canvas work, which included annex. That immediately blew the overall budget.
Since found an off-road package (new) for $5.5k with annex, not including kitchen, which I picked up last Friday and am pleased with the outcome.
I will fit it out and be well less than the original budget of $10k.
    It pays to shop around!
    cheers

Re: my new off road camper

here is mine i built the off road trailer and kitchen all to my specs! trailer is 7x5 plenty of room! 12 foot camper top which is 17 foot over all , fully enclosed anex! i have the complete package, and since did it my self cost me jack all! also has 2 x 60 ltr camel camper watertanks under it

and my kitchen which i got a house hold kitchen sink modified it to fit and fitted it to the kitchen! it is a bit of a mess in this pic just setting up but you get the picture! if you look on the end of the sink you will see it folds up for extra bench room!
