Whittley walkaround 2100

Has any one been in a whittley 2100 walkaround? How did it handle off shore as i am thinking of purchasing one soon.

Hi GM I was talking to a mate that has and he was impressed with the ride in chop.... he said it looks great and is quite fishable... the walkaround has just enough room to get past and there is not a lot of room up the front but overall for about $55,000-$60,000 it appears to be the goods

I must say i have not been in one but the whittleys have not got a good name for ride and they are known for chesse and biscut boats which is not my style. But the best thing to do is place a deposit subject to a test run. So if it rides bad you can pull out of the deal.

Not sure about that TCM, the Legends especially have a good rep, in fact some say too much deadrise (23deg from memory), for a good ride, at the expense of stability, and hence a bit rolly-polly in a big sea. Never been in a Whittley so i can't comment though. However, i did have a very good look at the bigger Legends before settling on a CC.

GM, the 2100's are built in the US, and have a completely different hull shape to the Kiwi sourced Legend hull. Their bow is fairly bluff in comparison, and hence i would say not nearly as good a ride as their cousins. Might have less deadrise too. BTW, the Kiwi's build some prett darn good boats.

Agreed. The Sea Legend was the best ride I'd ever had in any boat, excepting my cathedral-hull. Unfortunately, at anchor, the slightest swell and it rolled like a pig in shit ..............but that's the trade off for the good ride, I suppose.............it's called compromise The 23 rise was the cause of the roll......... any less and you'll have less of a ride, but more stability at anchor........other factors being equal.

As far as glass boats go, about 9 months to a year ago we reverted back to a shark cat which is a whole different senareo.

We decided we wanted to do different things to previously so thats the direction we finished up taking.

Greg, I know nothing about Cats. What is the advantage of a cat over a mono. They have more room, but at rest U get hull slap all night, Yes? They go round corners like a 1970 Valiant, yes? They can roll, yes? I'm not having a go at them, I really no nothing (that may be obvious) about them, only what I hear. They seem to have a good following! Enlighten me, please.

Didley, just do a search on this section on cats..................there's been plenty of discussion relating to them................almost as much as e-tecs

Hi Lampuka,
I have looked at Whittley and Southwind walkarounds. This boat seems to meet my needs for fishing aswell as the wife & kids. These boats are $65,000 new so i want to get the right information before purchase. If anyone else has a walkaround they like please let me know.

I have been sourcing the possibility of importing a walkaround from the US. I know there has been plenty of talk here about the pros and cons of this, and also posts from people who have done it also, but right at this moment with the arse falling out of the American market and the strong Aussie dollar, there are some unbelievable deals on new and almost new Trophy's, Seaswirls and Proline's etc in the walkaround models. There are also avenues out there to get your boat here quite reasonably.
The plus is that what you get as standard on these Yank boats you have to pay extra here as options and also their finishing is fantastic. If yo are thinking of spending $60,000.00 plus on a Whitely I would strongly suggest you look at importing as an option. I think you'll be surprised at what you could get for $60,000.00 from the US even allowing for freight.
