Turned up at borumba late friday night, swagged it on the grtound for the night then hit the water at sun up saturday morning.
It was my first trip in my new boat, that i had bought 3 months ago ang fully stripped back, repainted, re-wired and fitted out. About 10th cast in up Yabba Creek i was on to my first little bass (first for the boat) on a smak spinnerbait in ayu colour.
Then we decided to venture as far up the creek as we could go, turned out to be about a kilometer further then i was able to go last time i was there, looking a million dollars up there too i may add. Lantana and bottlebrush trees in the water everywhere, a casters paradise really. Using a purple kokoda popper i go a lovely 44cm bass out from under a overhanging ledge about 200m from the end of the arm.
Ended up changing back to spinnerbait in the sunny areas, and was straight onto another little bass. Then back to popper for the last bass a 45cm specimum pulled from a latana bush, the bass here really fight bloody hard, i had all sorts of trouble getting it out of the latana on 4lb fireline.
Headed into borumba creek for the evening session with only 4 swirls next to the popper.
Overnight the wind howled and there was trees and branches down everywhere, i was still keen to head out but it was impossible to get the boat in the waves were just too big for one person to hold the boat.
Overall i landed 4 bass, spooked 2 toga but i still had a ball. Bring on the summer again cause boy the spots up the back of those arms looks a top spot for saratoga.
