Thumbs Down!!!fish Dumped, carcases And Fillets In The Logan

    Hey all,
I went to the Skinners Park ramp today (Friday) after lunch. Noticed a smell and as I got the car closer to the ramp could smell some fish. Got out of the car and noticed over 15 fish frames lying around over half way up the ramp and all the way down to the water. Both on the ramp and off the ramp in the mud, and in the water where i was walking. Had my camera with me so took some pics of them. Dunno if you can see them but the majority of them are good sized snapper. All have been filleted and even the fillets were thrown on the ground. I have no idea why they took the time to fillet them and then throw them away or why they would waste such fish. It must have been someone who knows how to fish and where to fish because there is quite a collection of decent snapper.
Anyway i am hoping this thread gets out there and the people who did it take note. I am hoping the culprits aren't Ausfishers but i can't help to think that the people who did it have enough knowledge to catch great snapper that they might just be reading this now. Thumbs down to those responsible and thumbs up to everyone else on this site who does the right thing.
Thanks everyone for your great posts. Sorry this one is a little negative.

Hopefully i can post these pics..

I always fillet my catch at home and throw the frames into my chest freezer until bin day. They go into Otto on Tuesday mornings and are gone before I get home from work..... no smell, no fuss, no worries.
I agree that dumping frames at the ramps is just not on. The resulting putrid smell is just unbearable. If only people would think about their actions a little more.

Thanks Roo.. I think all the fillets were sitting there too.. i don't think they took anything home except the bait.. i didn't see any bait.. Might be a new type of fishing.. Anyone putting in there tonight at high tide might wanna watch out for Bull sharks cleaning up the carcases in the water. Might be a good place to fish with all the burleigh around..

Hey Shane seems you might be a bit quick to point the finger at the average" Fisho " Isnt the Skinners ramp on the Logan River at Carbrook ? If thats right then i would doubt that those fish came from a boat, more likely to be from a fish seller or wholesaler who might of had some old stock ( Fillets ) and they must have to get rid of the old frames that they get left with ! Dont really agree with the process but makes more sense to me. I just think the trip from there to the type of grounds that hold those type and quality of fish would be too hard ! The other thing i would not be so quick to blame is people that use this site, in your opinion might have something to do with this type of "Savage " behavior. I see you are a NEW member so that would be extremely rude to make that sort of judgment of " AUSFISHERS " that you dont even know. I have met alot of the folk from the QLD section of this site and we would be happy with that many Snapper in one year, never mind in one day ! LOL Welcome to the site mate, i just hope you are not here to get us to start a shite fight about stuff that we as " Fisher Folk " do without a second thought.

Yeah Ray, I could be mistaken but it looks to me like there's skin amongst the carcasses as if some fillets had been skinned and the skin dumped. I think you're more likely on the button, in that the particular ramp isn't the likely place to return from snapper grounds and why go to the effort of filleting, only to then dump them?

Hard to tell by the pics but some of those fillets look too narrow to be snapper. My bet's on a mobile fish van taking the weekend of,f and knowing that he can't keep the fillets till Monday, decides to dump.

    Hey Rankin And Kingtin,
Thank you both for your comments. The thought did cross my mind as to it being a fish/seafood seller when i went back tonight for a fish(one bite and no takers, only gave it an hour though). There use to be a little takeaway shop down at boykambil who use to dump their old fillets into the water but it wasn't on a ramp where people were walking or launching boats. I am new to the site and certainly don't wish to upset or accuse anyone of such a terrible act. Although if even a fish/seafood seller who might have done it reads my post then they will think twice about it and my post will have been worth it. I also agree that this would be a strange place to use a ramp to get to grounds with such a good supply of snapper which lead to my thinking it might be a seller..
Sorry to anyone my post upset. I certainly wasn't judging ausfishers in any way and have met quite a few since joining and happen to think that they are amongst some of the most trustworthy and friendly people around. Keep up the great work everyone and apologies for anything that might have misled you into thinking that i was accusing an innocent party. The only person need be offended is the guilty party.
Thanks again everyone. Your posts since i have joined have given me great information and many hundreds of hours of entertainment.

I am not as concerned about fish frames and skins that might fatten up next years muddie 4 me, but in one of the shots it looks like an oil or petrol spill. Or is it just the way the sun has reflected off the water in this shot?

    Hi all
Unfortunately there are some idiots out there that will always get under the skin one way or another as for me when I do get out fishing.
I do clean my fish where I am Anchored or if drifting an have the time the same thing clean as I go.

I will only take what we can eat plus a couple for a mate an his wife whom love there fresh fish. If I do fillet them it will be at home an the frames are either binned, minced for burly or Crab Bait so very little wasted around home.

It is the same as if we eat Prawns the Shells and head are place in bags an minced for the burly bag.
as for the above photo's again these Dic#heads need to learn sensibility not stupidity

    Cheers
    Steve

Same at clontarf couple weeks ago. Pile of snapper and kingfish. I reakon they would have went 10kg plus per fish. It was disgracefull. Could not get out of boat without stepping on frames or heads.
    Would have been 20 fish.
There are some real pigs around. Probably house is like it as well.
