Low Tide Boat Ramp - Redlands Today.
Hi All,
going out this afternoon/over night and will most likely be launching at or near low tide today. it is a .46 low. I will be launching the Yalta 615 and was wondering what the best ramp is to do this at?
Is it:
Redland Bay, Wellington point, Victoria Point, Cleveland.
Trailer will be pulled by 4by so not too worried about retrieving it empty.
Cheers

I have launched my seafarar at low tide a few times at Raby Bay - she gets pretty shallow and you need to be smack in the middle of the channel until you get into the main channel - you should be right I would have thought.

Thanks - not particularly worried about surrounding areas as I am happy to stay in channels, just concerned about the depth at the ramp itself.

I havent had a problem there mate with a similar sized boat, but in recent times I have used the private ramp beside it...but they lead into the same channel and are in the same area so you should be ok I think

hey Jas
If you are going to reddy bay go the one closest to the Coast guard. Bit of gravel built up thereand drop off not as bad The one at Manly south of the marina looks the goods too. Where are you off to tonight?

MTX,
on the Yalta you have a draft of approximately 400 thats what I work on, Redlands is a good ramp but shallow and at the end of the ramp it drops straight off, so watch your axle does go over, specially at low tide, also the bay out the front is shallow need to follow the channels.
Cleveland too shallow. Vicy point will be touch and go on the shallow side. Raby bay, well its a good ramp just enought water but the bloody rocks at low tide will cut you to ribbons.
Mate my suggestion to you is Manly boat harbour, southern side, (free) with excellent pontoon, the ramp isnt very steep and you need to put your trailer in a fair way but access to deep water all the way out and a really good pontoon to load your deckies on with.
Go the Yalta..

Cleveland ramp next to VMR Raby Bay is fine even on a low tide. Drive mine on and off the trailer there all the time. Reddy Bay, you'll drop the trailer off the ramp. For your size boat I wouldn't reccommend it. Seen plenty of people destroy trailers there trying to get them unstuck. But if you're still worried, as the guys said, Manly is the best. All weather and tide ramp but if you're heading for the southern bay, which I assume you are, it's an added 15 - 20 mins on your trip.

The ramp at Manly beside the MBTBC is better (imho) than the ramp beside the pontoon at low tide. The southside ramp flattens out mid to bottom of the tide. The other good ramp is Raby Bay.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
ended up getting out 2 hours after dead low and launched at Redland bay fine. Didnt even have to go right to the end of the ramp
I was going to head up to Manly as we went up to the northern end of the bay but as we did an overnighter, I got my father to pick the car / trailer up so it was not sitting at the ramp over night and he lives at redland bay.
Cheers
