My new motor misfires !

This fellow is a mate mate of mine. He had to get towed back the first time he took it out when it over heated and had to pay $200 FOR THE TOW.had some sorte of metal fillings in the cooling system.they fixed it and assured him it was running fine after they water tested it.so he and his mate enterd the trailer boat comp. took the boat out and it started missing and hard to start.took it back and they didnt want to know him. they argued that the miss fire was normal and typical of the 115 e tecs.normal my arss,i went out with him and it was running like a pig.my 90 does not miss a beat.they didnt want to fix it.he rang e tecs in sydney they assured him it will be fixed.will let everyone know how he went when he picks it up next week.

Good to ask how they solved it or tried to solve it so we all know?.

Has anyone noticed that the etec baggings lately are from new ausfish members and his mates are also new members. I think they are just shit stirring all the etec owners

I would be spuing as well. All sounds legit. Why would anyone want to bullsh.. about dramas they have.

ripoff alright i took rig back to dealer who is around yalata we took it for a run and motor misses on low revs sometimes and sometimes on med around 2000 this mec look at me and said this is a common fault with etec the 90 are worse he then said if you want us to spend more time on this you will be chared at 88.00/hr .........i lelf boat thier and rang etec nsw they said our motors dont miss he said i will ring dealer i have lost all contact with dealer i will let everyone know the outcome

I can imagine a bad setup and misfiring if I try hard...but how the hell do you also get metal filings in the cooling system...? Something smells fishy here.

Hope he gets it sorted, irrelevant on what motor it is I would be real pissed of as well. Lot of money to be handing over, and you would expect no issues or the very least good after sales service. The mind boggles when a dealer craps in his own nest.

Sure is some dodgy mofos selling boats and such nowadays. Pity there aint some sort of shame file for these mugs.

My 75hp E-Tec ran rough at 2000 RPM approx. They found it was the water inlet valve that was wide open located just before the thermostat. Apparently this opens fully @ WOT to assist cooling so my motor was running cold & therefore rough. Once fixed (2 min job) she's running sweet. Initially I was told the same about all E-Tecs running rough at this RPM. After posting this on Ausfish & taking some advice from here I went back to my lazy mechanic asked the right questions & got it sorted. Needless to say I am swapping dealers & mechanics, & strongly agree with the statements the dealer & the mechanic is the key. Got a brilliant mechanic for the car, hope to find the same level of expertise for the boat. Dont know about you blokes but people dont seem to have the same respect for your Pride & Joy as you do
