    Tabs v quintrex

Hi fellow ausfish people. Just wanted to run a poll on what boat do you think is the better built and design. I'am doing this as a friend is looking at tabs 510 bowrider with a yamaha 115 4 stroke and also looking a quintrex freedom sport with merc 115 opitmax. Also any owners of either with advice would be great as i will pass it on to him.

What size freedom sport are we talking ? Having owned a 560 spirit with a 115 4st merc, i'd have to say the quinnie !! But i've never been in a plate boat either.
Of the pressed ally boats, they would be the pick for me for many reasons ! there resale, overall finish& there ride to name a few ....... They also give you the option of in board / outboard ......... Just my opinion ( former Quinnie lover )

    G'day

Chalk and cheese, tabs is the only way to go in this comparison.

Out of interest, what's the price differance?

Mate there is a huge difference between the two the Tabs rides so much better is a lot stronger and has a longer warranty anyone that tells you a quintrex is the better boat has not been on a tabs. I have owned a quintrex 5m centre console and a tabs 5.3m territory pro.

All boats bang like a $20 hooker in different conditions. I went with a tabs due to passed experience. My first boat was an allycraft and after 6 trips to the bay (measurement mile) and back. 80% of the ribs had cracked under the floor,

So my conclusion was, Presssed boats with ribs are river and dam boats. They aren't designed for the ruff stuff.

No a real fair comparison, the Quintrex is a pressed boat and the tabs is plate, even a bad plate boat has some advantages over a good pressed hull of the same style/size.
Very hard for any pressed boat to make up the initial distance to a fair comparison.

There are lots of pressed boats still on the water without drama after 20years of coping a complete hiding, doing the pre-purchase research pays off.

    cheers fnq

A peice of shit tin can like quintrex shouldn't be even mentioned in the same sentence as a plate boat like tabs, do yourself a favour and park a quinny at the rubbish tip if you buy one because thats where its going to end up after a year or so weak as piss.

I'd pick a TABS + 4 stroke Yammy over a Quinny + 2 stroke Merc combination without ever having to test drive either of them.
Not a fair comparison really, ride & handling differences will be noticeable on the 'bad' days, and not to mention the price difference .
Resale would be in favour of the TABS rig too, imo.

    Re: Tabs v quintrex

as a rule plates are better than pressed ...two examples around here one with each boat 1/ the quinny cracked after 6-8 decent runs but was replaced by quintrex no question 2/ tabs kept porpoising again dealer replaced no worries.. the moral is whichever you go with make sure the dealer isn't just a seller into sales

Hi the tabs is $1370 dearer than the quintrex and kratzmans have got them and they have got some wild colours maybe they have done that to get attention from the hwy. It looks like he has come to a deal on one today the only thing is kratzmans told him it will be 12 weeks to get it because they can't keep up with the orders they have got . I think that tells the story as he could have got a quinny in 4 weeks. I think the plate thing was a big winner.
