Hey guys heading outside in the morning, just wondering what the current is like at the moment. Wondering if im just wasting fuel if we head out wide?

Fished off Moreton and Straddie yesterday mate. Current was manageable in and around the 80m mark with a chute deployed. Without one, you'd have to use a fair bit of lead.

God the weather really is looking a lot better to go out tomorrow than friday isn't it. I really should call in a sickie and head out tomorrow myself instead of Saturday. haha.

we were out wide last wkend to not much luck ST had alot more action on it. think its still a little to early.

you should be able to hit the bottom

Wind against current ATM out there with the southerlies blowing so sea anchor is a must.
If you pick down as we did on wednesday, the wind was stronger than the current and fishing under the boat is to be expected.
Fished with 4 ball floaters and bottom bouncers and the bottom bouncers worked best for some good pearlies and moses.

Hi Guys, What type of chute are you deploying? My 575 needs slowing down on the drift and I could do with some pointers..... Thanks

G'day,
I don't know about the other guys but most of my mates in boats of all kinds from 5.3 m to 6.25 use para anchor size 4. You can pick those up from most chandleries for around $150.
You will need to attach rope to it before use. One to hold it and the other to deflate (for want of a better word) it. You can then attach it to a bollard or the ski hook which ever you have.
I have had one for the last 8 years and would be concerned if I was going to fish out wide without one, as I prefer to drift and don't anchor.
In my opinion thery are worth every bit of $150 and more.

I run a Cruisecraft 685 and use a chute which is a "Fisherman 7". Try website http://www.paraanchors.com.au/ Give the guy a call (03) 5144 1244 and ask which is the right size for your boat. I understand that BCF only stock one size which I think is a "4". But one size is not right for all boats.
