Smile Day out and new PB

Well, another day with not enough to do and all day to do it in. What's a boy to do? Go fishing of course

Hit the water at real gentlemen's hours (10:30) and headed over to drift a few ledges around the west of Moreton. After spending far too long bringing up a 3.5Kg slatey, on light string, last week, I decided to bring the heavier tackle. Total overkill for the undersized squire that started to come on board in big numbers. It's not much fun when you simply skulldrag the fish up.

I was just starting to get bored with the small squire, when the livie I had set up got smacked. Again, no big fight, but I could feel a bit of weight and soon a nice 51cm estuary cod hit the deck. Not big by the standards of what I've seen here, but a new PB for me so I was pretty happy.

After that it got pretty quiet except for being bitten off three times in a row. Dunno what that was, maybe a late season mack?

Good stuff Sunny. Congrats on your PB cod. Good to see you're putting your time off to good use.

Bite offs may have been a school mackerel. They don't migrate large distances like the spotties do.

    Cheers
