    flying tarpon round the sunny

    hi guys, just been to tassy fly fishing for trout LOVED IT! now no surprise im hooked on fly fishing just been and bought a gillies starter fly fishing kit. i was talkin to the guy at bcf anf he said that you can catch tarpon on fly in some of the canals and things alike on the sunshine coast, could anyone tell me anything about the tarpon thing and how i would go about catching them and where?

    Shane,
    You will find most guys who consistently pin Tarpon on fly keep the locations pretty well hidden , regardless of what others think . If you are really keen go and see Gavin at tie N fly outfitters at the end of Point Cartwright drive Buddina , he is more that willing to give up whats happening , even better come along to the club meetings and ask around. There still are some pretty consistent Tarpon spots on the coast but no one is ever there when I am there , and blasting it on here would surely change that.

    Mate if your ever around hervey bay send me a pm i can get you a few
    All of my spots when it rains a lot of the tarpon come up around the surface and you can see them swirling on the surface and see there fins out of the surface.
    not sure if they do the same down your way but could be a wat to find them if you haveheard they are in a certain area
