    Late report Tin Can Bay

The plan was to have 5 days fishing the TCB area.
    Day 1
Departed home PM towing the Savage Ranger Custom and arrived 2 hrs later at the Kingfisher Caravan Park and checked into our cabin.A perfect day weather wise. After a late lunch checked out the ramp for the following morning.A top ramp with 2 taps in the rigging area for flushing & washing down (bring your own hose and fittings - I didn't ) & a pontoon nearby for loading people and gear on larger craft.
    Day 2
After a phone call the previous evening had to travel to Gympie and did not return until pm. Decided to try Ida Isl. for whiting. Fished for about an hour on beach worms with no luck so decided to try the T-bar ledge we had been told about.Suddenly the temputure dropped, the wind increased with rain showers and cold wet and uncomfortable decided to head back to the ramp.A very rough trip proberly due to the out going tide and wind. Suddenly my GPS was black and I thought it was stuffed. Decided to hit the on button and after all the Garmin startup crapp was back online and on course, for about 2 minutes when it died again.Every couple of minutes hit the button, hit the button etc.Think it was was due to the pounding we were taking as this was no longer a problem in calmer water. Anyone else had this problem?.
    Day 3
Stiff and sore after the previous days pounding so did not hit the water until PM
Decided to try a spot that a local had recommended south of the entrance to Snapper Crk. An hour or so later all we had caught were undersize bream & squire so off to the T-Bar ledge. OFF OFF OFF , can't get the anchor OFF the B*****Y botom. Another hour later after cutting the anchor rope (my previous Whittley was all chain) and minus about 14 m of rope, chain & anchor and Crabbie (living up to my name ) even though I carry a spare anchor decided to head back to the ramp as I was P****d off and dusk was falling.
    Day 4
The other half decided to inform me again "that boats were ok Providing that they wern't floating on water !"and her desire was to go to Rainbow Beach for the day or no more you know what! So another days fishing in Paradise lost!
    Day 5
Had to be out of the cabin by 10 am so after checking out the house boat hirers and pickinp some more delicious tiger prawns from Lees fishing co_op ($15 kg) headed home Mabe one day I will get to the T-bar ledge and other spots members gave me , thanks again fellas, particuarly "FOR STEVE".
Five days fishing turned out to be about two 3 hr sessions and no fish, no wonder the call me CRABBIE

Oh, well... You know what they say... A bad days fishing beats a good day at work!

    Cheers!

    Crabbie,

Your mistake is going PM. Locals do better going out early before the weather becomes coastal. Wind picks up, barometer drops, and coastal showers. Also the baby snapper area fishes better at night. The t-bar area IS ok during the day.

They told you where, but not when..

    Regards Chappy
