Have you tried to tell them ?Maybe a few snapperhead be handy next time.
At cabbage tree point boat ramp today had to had to turn deck wash on myself to cool myself off. Boat ramp can fit four across but normaly 3 at a time .Today weve got three parrots with empty trailers lined up but only putting on one boat at a time as none of these boaters were capbable of driving their boats on trailers even thow they were all multiroller trailers they just wait until the guy closest to the beach side of the ramp retreived his boat and then pull their boat across efectively block ing the free ramp space even worse some of their replacements on the ramp had the same practice .it took 30 minutes to retrive 5 boats .if there going to lead their boats on to the trailer from sand (beach side ) they should all line up for that one ramp and let the rest of us get on with it
Have you tried to tell them ?Maybe a few snapperhead be handy next time.
At Heaven's gate a soldier stood,
his story ready to tell,
St Peter said, 'no need my son all is understood,
Go right in cos you've already served your time in Hell'
patience, patience, patience..people have the right to load their boats anyway they choose.
nah not sevre enough fo a snapper perhaps a whiting
I have to agree with Pinhead. My boat has been in & out in minutes for the odd ten minutes I have had to wait for a less experienced boaty.
lighten up a bit guys. without knowing their circumstances. they might be new to boating.
a friendly chat might have been all that was needed to hurry things along instead of blowing your own fuse.
did you offer to help???
Yup, help's the thing to offer. Sounds like you hit a bunch of learners to me. They might have just been rank A@@holes, but I doubt it.
I know I tied up the Viccy Point ramp once, due to inexperience, and people leapt to my aid. I learned a few things from them, and after that, it was sweet. But it's pretty hard to help from your boat, and waiting in a queue will steam anyone up. My sympathy!
If you wish to experience a really bad queue, try going to a Telstra Shop!!!
Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
I suppose i could have offered to drive boats on for them but most people wont let strangers near there gear . I dont think they were all newbies .it was a zero wind bugger all tide situation and if i wanted to load my boat that way id stay in que and wait until the appropriate lane opened up . If they have the right to gin around like untrained seals i should have the rights to throw fish offal at them
You could always ask them "Are you new at this, or are you just bad at it?" (without implying that they are being VERY inconsiderate - that always seems to get people's backs up)
Then you'd know whether to help or yell at them! I'd happily ask that question, and deal with the consequences. If they were rude to me, I'd give them hell. If they were nice about it, I would be too.
Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
I must admit to getting steamed up a bit when caught in queues awaiting someone to get on with it, but if I am not willing to assist to speed things up, then I don't have the right to abuse or get angry at them. Why is it that we are quicker to be critical than to help? I know I fall into this category too and it needs to be a concious decision on my behalf to check myself for being so shallow. Just enjoy the fact that you have been lucky enough to either have spent a day or about to spend a day doing what you love. I know sitting in a car waiting, waiting is hard to take, but I now keep a suitable mag in my car so I have something to do whilst I wait. Since doing this, I don't get angry any more (or atleast alot less).
Either offer to help them out or chill and read a mag. Ofcourse, if they don't accept your offer of advice/help and then proceed to give you abuse for doing so - let the offal fly!
There seem's to be a major problem as of late at "CABBAGE TREE POINT BOAT RAMP" . I use this ramp too and my trailer / boat combo is very old and cannot be driven onto because I dont have trailer roller's, just single roller's all up the middle and a set of skid's on the side, I have to park the car on the ramp and then the mrs will walk the boat over and I have to go knee to somtime's waiste deep (depending on tidal flow) to then carefully wind the boat on, after the boats safety chain is hooked i'll then drive off to put all the rest of the tie down's and stuff on before I go.
It would seem that you were unlucky enough to come across a few of my type of boat retriever's all following one another, even though some of them had the trendy drive on trailer's they can still not be confident enough to actually drive the boat on,newbie or not, I know some bloke's who have had boats for years but still do it the old fashioned walk her on way!
As the other bloke's said, patience helps but my sympathy is with you in having 4 or 5 peep's do it one after another. As I said at the start of my post, There seems to be some real problem's with this particular ramp as of late and thats not even mentioning the poor parking there!
Bretty
Unfortunately some people just can't seem to get the hang of loading a boat with reasonable speed. Sometimes this is the fault of the trailer, but most times it is just that they don't learn from their experiences, they either put the trailer in to deep or not far enough, have mates stand around scratching their **** instead of helping load the boat, but the ones that deserve to be shot on sight are those that load the boat and then pull it out of the water, stop on the ramp and drain, tie down and generally stuff around. They generally take exception to any comments and suggestions viewing it as their dvine right to block a ramp. I also have come across a group of boy racers, at Vic Point, with 3 cars and trailers lined up at the head of the ramp mucking around with an engine on one of them. They weren't making any attempt to put the others in the water, just blocking access and called me names when I squeezed in under them and launched my boat. They believed that I should have shown patience while they spent god knows how long blocking the way of others.
Geez, I hope I don't strike some of you guys at the ramp when I get a boat. Not that I intend to muck about tieing straps down etc but some guys on here seem to be too impatient to allow people to retrieve their boat they way they want/are capable of.
I can tell you I won't be rushing and potentially damaging my boat and/or trailer for the sake of 2 minutes cause of some hot head.
Oh, and I will be keeping a few snapper heads in stock for return fire.
