Headed out off Pt Lookout in the last patch of good weather.
Stopped at the wave rider for a few dollies while the weather was good. got 5 for a feed so we headed back inshore, trolled for 15 minutes and was contemplating a change of location when i rod levels and loses about 150m of 15kg. Managed to get a positive ID on it being a wahoo and not an oversize tuna before the hooks pulled. Decided to keep trolling within 2 minutes we had a double hookup on wahoo thrashing the surface. 1 managed to get sharked the other got a gaff shot for its trouble. Out the lures went again 2 minutes another double of surface carving wahoo. 1 of which got sharked and the other entered the boat.
Both fish weighed in around the 15kg mark, with the bigger specimens managing to elude the gaffs.
All trolling done with highspeedWillcatch Bubblemax at 14-17knots, surprisingly hex heads couldnt raise a strike for the afternoon.
Funnily enough a mate went out midweek off hutchies with the same lures at 14 knots and boated a 24kg hoo and got near spooled on a second fish.
