    Lowrance 7200

Got one a few months ago and the other day it stopped picking up any satalights. I've checked the external antena and I'm preaty sure its not that.

Anyone else have any issues with this unit?

    Cheers

Luke - have had no issues with mine except early on when it would freeze whenever I zoomed in close. This was fixed with an update of the software. Can you see the antenna in the network set up?

Also are you running the latest software ?

Do you get a message "GPS Module Not Responding"?

Used to be a common problem with them. On mine it was either the cable to the antenna or the antenna itself.

Warranty job though if it's that new!

    Re: Lowrance 7200

    Here's an update:

I get the GPS module not responding message when I unplug the GPS cable, but even when it is connected its still not picking up any satalights. I installed my Suzuki interface kit today and that seems to be working correctly so I supose my bus is working right. The GPS antena is up on my t-top with nothing covering it.

I'll see if I can test my unit on someone elses boat and try and figure out whats going on.

    Cheers

Geez whoever's going to let you plug your busted kit into their machine must be game....that'd have to be a couple of cartons for sure!

Incase anyone is interested, it ended up being my GPS antenna. Strange how it can work one day and not the next.

6 months later and I've got the same problem again. It happend while I was on a 5 day fishing trip up north and had to negotiate the way home without it!

How many more people are having these issues?

    Re: Lowrance 7200

    Hi Luke,
I've got "GPS Module Not Responding" on a 14 month old 7200! This is the second unit that has done it to me. Means there is no info from the antenna. I've checked the current on all the connections and it is getting power. So I'm back to my old problem on an earlier post here that either the antenna has crapped out or the last 2 foot of cable to the antenna.
It's really pissing me off. Last I checked new antennas were about $250.
I love the Navionics map on the Lowrance and I'm used to operating them but I'm rapidly losing my trust in them. How hard is it to make an antenna that doesn't break?
Where do you live Luke? Maybe we could try swapping our antennas to do some more trouble shooting!
    Scotty.

    Re: Lowrance 7200

    Mirage,

I've done a bit more fault finding with my unit and have discovered its my EP20 sensor for my Suzuki outboard thats causing my latest issue. The sensor must have got water in it and everytime its connected to the bus it drags the whole system down.

Maby if you have the EP20 sensors for your motors you could try and disconnect them and see how it goes.

    Cheers

Thanks Luke. No I don't have any fuel sensors etc. connected.
    Still working on it!
