Upgrade help...

Looking for some help with an upgrade.

I am looking to upgrade my first sounder, a Humminbird Matrix 12 , to a colour model.
The new model will most likely not be a Humminbird.
We have the Humminbird GPS and was wondering if this unit would still work with other brands of sounders?
Most likely a Lowrence.

Any help appreciated.

I don't think it will work with other brands. more so the software won't support it, then the plug will be different.

why don't you wan to stick with humminbird

if your looking at getting a colour sounder the cheapest was is to probably stick with Humminbird, that way you should still be able to use your current GPS receiver.

If you change brands you will have to start from scratch again.

either way. your looking at about $1000+ if you buy in australia.. or AU$800+ if you import from the US.

only advice i can give u if you go colour is don't just buy a colour sounder for the sake of it being colour, get something 1/2 decent or you'll just be wasting your money.

if that is the case, get a good B&W unit..

but IMO and i'm sure everyone else who has a colour unit will agree... they are much easier on the eyes to use than a B&w.

If it helps - I picked up an Hbird 797 SI for under a grand from the States. They are 2 grand here.

Set your budget, then shop ebay stores Mate. You'll get a much bigger bang for your buck!!

I'll get the boat back this arvy Jase (Local_Guy), with the SI fitted, and a switch for turning off the 2Kw Furuno transducer.

Local Guy – I'm looking at the 777c it is a dual frequency, good resolution etc.
Budget is about right. Do you have any thoughts on this model?
I have downloaded the user manual and it seems to have it all over the Matrix that I have.

Lots of savings to be had. The info on the FishOn website was excellent.
