Start by talking to the EPA as they have to approve it.
Where on earth do I start? I want to get a ball rolling with regards to an artificial reef in Gladstone QLD.
Any hints or previous experiences will be appreciated.

How large a reef are you envisioning?? It would need to be quite sizeable for EPA to consider it in the first place.
Jack.
Hi mini
What you propose is a great idea and I suggest you first go and see the Gladstone Community Development Officer. That position is linked in closely with Gladstone City Council and the Area Tourism bureau. If you can get them behind you, they will liaise with the EPA etc. Also would be worth arranging a meeting with George Creed and as many like minded people as yourself as possible. Gladstone VMR would also be a good place to gather support. Leo Zussino is head of the Qld Port Authorities and tied heavily with the GPA. Talk to him as well and get him on side. He's a good bloke and will give you an ear. At the end of the day, it will be a political decision, and you have the best chance in the world with Leo, Chris Trevor, a state Labor govt and a Fed Labor govt. It's up to you!
Cheers
Dave
Can be done. Takes a little while to jump through all the hoops. We sunk old ferro concrete yacht hulls. Had the hulls donated, forum busy bee to get them ready for sinking, AFANT providing the funding for the crane and truck hire, forum members providing tow vessels and support and XXXX providing the beer sponsorship.

You could try getting in contact with the Cochrane Artifical people. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.

The HMAS Gladstone would have to be a good contender for a reef. Half of the town would enjoy it more that way!
And the video. How about a few guys get together and do something like this. Should be plenty of hulls around and be great pr for the Ausfish forum.
