After getting a feed last week ,the young fella came out to the cockle banks to get another feed.i dont think i will get out without him ever again and he wanted his picture up again.was a top day on the water with spinnaker ramp busiest i have seen it for a long time.the only bad point was the idiots in their 30 ft boats that decide its quicker to cut thru the middle of 20 odd boats drifting for whiting the young bloke learnt some new words mum doesnt need to hear. might have to start taking him out the reefs that will test him.
Top stuff mate, I hope my boy gets keen soon.. he loves the boat, but finds fishing boring to a degree.. seems to like crabbing though ?

He is 7 and loves to go fishing and crabbing,when i tell him we are going he is up before me and ready to go doesnt matter what time we leave.If the girls are coming he always ask if we can go without them cause they winge and want to come in early.And the strange part is he is hyperactive when not in boat but patient when fishing .it also helps to teach him about the enviroment and why we only catch what we need for a feed.you couldnt ask for a better classroom
Could I ask a silly question, where is 'Cockle Banks' ?
I have a five year old who loves the tug of a whiting and panicks at anything heavier. We accidently snagged a ray on Monday and he ended up the front of the boat fro 1/2 hour - Sting rays are associated with Steve Irwin....
We normally fish at Woody Point, although when Mom comes out we have to leave later and return earlier....
I think the cockle banks are out from Scarborough, heading towards Bribie
I've been out there once, we launched from Scarborough and headed towards Bribie / beachmere.. Basically at this time of the year, head North East from the Scarborough ramp and look for the 100 other boats

as said midway between bribie and scarborough and dirtysanchez is right look for the hundred boats drifting across them or if you have gps s27 07 929 e153 08 014 will put you in the area.your 5 year old will love it plenty there at moment.we pulled the pin at 40 as thats plenty enough to fillet and no need to freeze any as they will be around a while yet
