Thread: Baby Dragon Weave

    Baby Dragon Weave

Here is a weave I have just completed, there is 119 design threads and 107 wraps. The design thread is maderia and the wrap was in C Gudebrod. This one has not yet been packed and there are a few threads that still need to be tighted yet before the CP goes on. I had one thread break on me which I will try and cover up some how and I left 4 threads out and they had to be added in that will teach me for not paying more attention when reading instructions.

There are a few things I would change in the design but at this stage it is all trial and error. All in all I am pretty happy with this first multi coloured weave.

Hey very nice job I would like to see some photo's when you have applied some finish.
When you said Baby Dragon weave the first thing that springs to mind was Jim Uptons Baby Dragon I would consider that particular weave probably one of the most viewed and well know weaves around I bet 90% of the rod builders on this forum have seen it.
That Baby Dragon of yours is pretty darn good.
I dont know how you do it, anything bigger then an standard average fish with a single colour or two colours really give me the sh!ts.
I just dont have the patience and I think I am to picky and usually end up trying to redo it half a dozen times before I am sort of happy or just give up.
I have actually been in contact with Jim Upton in the last couple of weeks asking if I can call on him for some advice and help as I wanted to try some other weaves soon that are a little more difficult.
Now I know of someone else I can contact as well. LOL
I think it was Owen that said a lot of Aussie rod builders are scared of weaving, when they are like that I know I am.

    Re: Baby Dragon Weave

If I had done it I would have posted it on just about every rod building forum going. After seeing what goes into something like that I think you have a right to be really proud of it as its not something a lot of rod builders can do.
