Attachment 25843 just got home from 2 weeks in fiji, the trip was great when the kids were feeling good ...sick kids and holidays arnt a good mix, but got some fishing in which was great reef fished daily and caught some beautiful fish, snorkeled, and one day i found a local fella who took me and another keen fisho out to the wave break were we caught bluefin trevally, watched yellowfin tuna jumping... but couldnt catch any (bit spooky) also popping for gts which absolutly smashed the poppers. saw beautiful freshwater perch up in the hills but was the only time i didnt take my rod ... its a beautiful place and ill be going back this time more organized.... heres some of the piccys ive taken..cheers bdowdy..brett

hi everyone i stayed at plantation island for the first week,its close to castaway, musket cove,,,islands..top spot,,, caught the bluefins on poppers and divers GEEZ THEY PULL HARD,,,, hi PISTOL-P... i tryed for afew gts but got smashed up off the wave break ..AWESOME HITS...LINE SCREAMING THEN SNAPPED..ONLY USING 50LB..... THIRSTY... GOTTA hit the locals up there the gun fishos and will put you in the right direction...second week i just cruised around the iland in a rental car checking out future trips, locations and now some freshwater spots.... cheers bdowdy..brett

dan plantation is only 45min malolo cat boat ride from denaru marina, its anice spot for the family,try a google search,,,there is a new resort which i just found when i was leaving called MAUI BAY GAME FISHING LODGE WHICH SOUNDS AWESOME if your really keen, they have there own website so check it out. need any more help just pm me .... cheeers bdowdy.brett

Yeah agreed...The bluefin trevs have some awesome pulling power.

Over that shallow coral anything less than 30-40lb braid is suicide.

plantation is awesome!!! i stayed there a few years ago and i managed to kayak out to that flouting flatform infront of the bungalo's and fished there i pulled in a nice rock cod threw it back then this big spanish makeral(walu over in fiji) jumped and took it before the cod hit the water. next time i go there i am taking the big over head with 80lb braid . does anyine know if you can still fish landbased off plantation.
