Teewah Spaniard
Picked this fella up this afternoon while spinning/jigging for spotties near Teewah. Was taken on a 45g Slider attached to 15lb mono and went 18kg. Nothing was breaking the surface so was a case of finding the section of reef which is close to shore where they were and cranking fast slugs from the bottom. A fair few spotties over the weekend also and heaps of fun from the jetski.

Re: Teewah Spaniard
Well done on the spaniard Slider. If I had my wits about me yesterday I had the chance of hooking an LT from the beach at Inskip.

Well done lindsay! Fishing from a jetski would be fun and then hooking a spaniard would have been awesome!
Cheers, Mick.

Re: Teewah Spaniard
Beach is very good ST - lots of good gutters and plenty of beach for driving. Few rocks but they aren't really an obstacle. The number of vehicles on the weekend was just crazy though and didn't hear of any fish caught off the beach - prob due to the traffic.
Heard this morning there wasn't much happening in the way of surface feeders at Inskip Wags. Obviously there must have been some?? Was only a few mac tuna on the surface near the first cut down this way.
Was a late decision to head out this arvy when the wind dropped. Launched in front of Teewah around 3pm and took errrr .... not long to get to the reef. Found the spots straight away but the northerly kicked again to 10 - 12kn just as we arrived. Still wasn't difficult to cast, retrieve and then 'boat' the fish so yes was very enjoyable. The spaniard took me past a joining knot which is about 250m down and then a fair wack of the backing and it was looking like a chase. Ash was on a spotty at that point and my line was getting low with way more drag than I was comfortable with. Fortunately he turned before any panic set in and came to the ski in no time - prob 7 or 8 mins from wo to go. Knew from halfway through the first run that it was a spanish and being on backing line so quickly was a little disconcerting. And when we realised what we were dealing with on sighting it, and Ash just boating his spotty, some fast decisions were made and a very tidy gaff and bag was the end result. Back into the beach by 4.45 with some filleting to do. Would happily head out again tomorrow but the ski is on its way back to Bris.

Nice fish. Beach fishing wasn,t all that good but I did see a few good fish taken. I caught a nice green back dart 52cm and a whiting 36cm but bloke next camp pulled a 42cm bream. went down to talk to him later while trying to get some worms and he has a whiting skeleton tied to bream skelton for stinkie. He tells me the whiting was as big as the bream. I have no doubt as the head was as big as my fist. Two very nice fish

Re: Teewah Spaniard
Hey Brad,
Yeah mate, exactly the same spot. The gps battery was getting low - obviously from you guys using it the day before - so to save battery we were turning it off and guessing the drift and if we got it wrong then no result. Had to check our location several times and found it was a fairly small diameter strike zone - as it was when you were out there Ash was saying. You gunna throw in a couple of pics mate?
Few tailor off the beach this afternoon in perfect conditions. Virtually nothing breaking the surface other than the odd mac tuna and nobody seemed to be having any joy on the bread and butters.

Re: Teewah Spaniard
Can't see launching between Leisha and D.I. in the very large lagoon that is there being a problem at all Orrsum. You just can't get past the trees to the immediate left of the Leisha heading to Rainbow.
Looks like a winter pattern establishing itself now hey Pete.
Jimbo, there is a fair list of species that have been taken on the slugs and a few unlikely ones amongst them. Prickly Pete reckoned he could catch barra on them and I guess it's possible - have caught jack and coral trout on them. I guess it's a case of how you use it.
