    changing rod handles?

    hi i am interested in starting to build my own rods but have rod that i would like to to change the bottom handle on is this easy to do and if so how would i go about getting the old hangle off and so on? chees

    Fred,
    It might help if you could post a pic of the rod in question.
    If it's only the butt grip it shouldn't be too hard, but it will depend on the material.
    The only difficulty is that you will be trying to put the new grip over the largest part of the blank.
    If it's a cork grip then you will have a gap at the reel seat end to contend with.
    Hypalon/Eva grips should have enough stretch to get on with little drama.

    it is a cork handle i read some where in a previous post that the way to go about it is to cut the old handle off and sand smooth the blank. Then use strips of masking tape to thicken the blank were needed so the handle will fit snuggle does that sound about right also what adhesvie should be used for this? cheers fred

    That's pretty much it.
    Make sure your completely fill the cavity between blank and handle with a high strength two part epoxy like 24 hour araldite - not the 5 minute stuff.

    thanks owen, now my only problem is sourceing a handle in sydney tried the local and the were no help other then to order in
