hey guys went for an early morning fish with a few mates to try and get a feed. started off drifting some rubble ground near the rouse for many undersized squire and only 1 legal one at 45cms. we then decided to chase a few schools of tuna which were boiling near bye. my cast into the school came up with a solid hookup, realising the shear weight of this fish i new straight away that i was in trouble.as the fish took about 100meters of line in about 15 seconds we gave chase and this continued for another hour bfore we got a good look at it. 'omg' i said as i saw colour under the boat and realised i hooked a nice longtail tuna. another 40 mins passed and my old man was finally able to get a clean gaff shot on her and into the boat it came. the tuna fell to a 5'' natural colour berkley powerbait fished on a 2-4kg berkley drop shot rod and a 1500 daiwa exellor with 6pd mainline and 10pd trace. this fish is a new pb on such light line.
pics to follow shortly as soon as camera recharges.
cheers steve
