Thanks for the acknowledgement in your post. Went to the tinny and Tackle show with the crew from "Alexander" today. Frank wore his Frank the Fishing Machine Tshirt for a laugh. He said the prawns are ready to run in the next few days and it should be easier to get a decent feed without putting in too many hours.
what a great day today was for prawning! it was like a lake out there. and 4kilo of prawns to top things off. and home to watch the footy by 11am with beer and Honey soy lemon bbq prawns.
Still a few prawns around, It took a lot of searching and and a few hours to haul in just over a kilo yesterday. Just enough to make it worthwhile. I went up the creeks and channels and got a lot of mud for my troubles. Also picked up 11 mullet between 30-40 centimetres, and a decent black bream , all in the cast net, not to mention enough bait fish to keep one supplied all year. Weather conditions were great. Made it real worthwhile.
Hopefully the prawns are around another 3-4 weeks although they seem to be thinning out.

Super weather yesterday. Unfortunately my fish-finderis being repaired,but still managed 1.5 kilos in the afternoon. All were between 17-22cm.
Went out this morning hoping for a kilo or so, and was disappointed , by 9.30 or so had nothing at all.
The tide turned .onthe incoming tide,I started getting 1 or 2 a cast and it got better,and better,and better. Finished with 8 kilo's. I couldn't believe that we would still be getting them in such good numbers in mid May.
Unfortunately tomorrow is mothers day and I cant find time to go out.

I always tell others, although I'm wary of people that leech and don't contribute on this forum. I went out again yesterday and got - 2 prawns.
the trawler was working the area- alllllll day. Thats ok though, I managed 13 kilos from that area in 3 days. More than enuff!
LOL that must be the magic number because i went yesterday(wednesday) and all i got was 2 prawns! same thing the river trawler was there all day. i went for a run up to the pergola and the water was alive with literally millions and millions of baby prawns all pushed up around the rocks. I told them to grow up and that i'd see them next year
