Hit the water just after daylight at river heads. Headed out into the sandy straits in search of a feed. Dug 200 yabbies at sunrise then headed down to where the tide was flooding over a large yabby bed. anchored the boat and got out and walked. loads of undersized whiting was rapidly using up the bait supply. As the water reached a bit over kneedeep the bigger whiting came on the bite. Landed a dozen in quick succession. Saw a dark shape mooching down with the tide. was putting the whiting on ice at this stage. as it came past it was the biggest threadie iv seen in a while. Threw bombers furiously but only suceeded in spooking it. high tide saw us push up onto a mangrove island where some nice golden lined whiting were landed.an hour after high went to flathead spot but only got 3. kept one for the neighbor who supplies our veges.Pulled out round lunch. Wind was more than expected. constant 12-15knots with squalls. Ended up with 30 whiting and one flathead so all in all not a bad day out.
chewy........
P.s. for anyone planning on using river heads be aware of roadworks before you get to the shops. its a bit rougher than it looks..
