    Furuno sounder Question

    G'day Fellow Fisho's

Looking at upgrading my sounder and was looking at the Furuno 585 or 620. Don't know alot about these but from what i've read they seem to be a good unit and very popular. Just wondering which of the two has the better features and do they come with transducer or is that extra?

    Cheers

They have the same features, except that the 585 is available as 1kw , the 620 is only 600w

Great units , just depends on what sort of fishing you are doing??

The 620 is smaller and cheaper and as stated is only available as 600w. It does however have one aspect in the fine tuning I think that the 585 does not .Cant remember off the top of my head. I have the 620, it works perfectly and you can easily see detail in daylight from the back of a 6m boat.

    Thanks Guys

I was leaning towards the 620 as I dont think I will need the 1kw feature of the 585. Do you know whether the unit comes with the transducer if not what would be the best one for the 620???

    Re: Furuno sounder Question

the 620s should come with a transducer for around $1200 with a $75 cashback offer at the moment.

you really only need a 1kw transducer if your going to the shelf or want to fry the fish under the boat.

Both Great Units And They Deffinitly Looks Lik The Most Popular Sounders On The Market At The Moment. And As The Guys Have Said 585 Just Has The Abillity To Run 1kw And Larger Screen.

    Daamu
just got my 620 on Tues, upgrading from a Furuno LS6100 I did not get a transducer as I will use the one from the 6100.
Its a P66, or known as a525stpw (something like that)
check out Airmar site for types of trannys.
Also us websites give you enough details of matching tansducers.

Interesting: my manaul for the 620 is very simular to the LS6100 manual,
so functions should be easy to use for me.

    Re: Furuno sounder Question

It's looking more and more that the 620 is the unit for me just wondering if there is any difference between buying from here or from the states.eg. can you change the units of measure.
Has anyone purchased one of these units or similar units without problems and which is the better place to purchased from??

    Cheers Dale

    Re: Furuno sounder Question

I saved $500 buying my 585 from the USA with a 600w tansducer. That saving was worth it for me. Get your best price here for the unit you want then get your best price online from the USA and see if its worth taking the risk.

The 585 has a much bigger pixel count as well as a bigger screen. This means more detail on the screen.
