Salmon and Sea Trout reprt from Waterville fishery
14/4/08 All quiet on the SW front in all departments. Wind NE then veered NW after lunch, light to fresh, bright and sunny throughout the day. Amount of rain fall in the twenty four hours 0.1mm. Max air temperature 11.7C. Water temperature in Coffees Bay 11.2C/52F 15/4/08 Once again all quiet on the Lough Currane front. Wind SW light with bright sunshine throughout the day.16/4/08 There were a few boats out, but by lunch time all boats were blown off due to a strong SE wind blowing and our Manger Mr john Murphy was telling me that on Derriana Lake, they had to pull the boats up into the field because of 7 foot waves. Max air temperature 13C/55.4F. 17/4/08 Again there was a strong ESE wind, even though one could fish, we all failed in our duties. 18/4/08 What can I say but its the same old story today as yesterday except the wind was ESE then veered ENE fresh to strong with good cloud cover, max air temperature 12C/53F. 19/4/08 The was some fine action on the Waterville fishery, I begin with Lough Currane where Mr Rob Wasmuth of the UK and Waterville, caught a 9lbs Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr Michael O’Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ lobsterb@iol.ie but fish of the day and maybe of the season? Goes to renowned and well known local Gillie Mr Mike O’Dwyer who caught a 16.5lbs Salmon on the fly on the Famous Butler Pool and I can tell you this fine fish wasn’t alone and if you want to learn more, or book the Pool you can visit WWW.Watervillegolflinks.ie Wind ESE light and overcast with very light drizzle so light in fact it will be interesting to see if it registers. It didn’t. 20/4/08 there was light NNE wind blowing so light at times you could hardly cast your fly, but come 11am there was a nice wave and it wasn’t long before Mr Smith of the UK was manipulating his fly when he hit a fine 7lbs specimen sea Trout out at the Church and my Noble Sea Trout gave him some battle and his Gillie Mr Neil O’Shea of WWW.Oshealoughcurrane.com had one swipe of the net and the rest is history, plus they rose some fine Sea Trout afterwards and for the rest of we anglers no comment. Amount of rainfall 1.0mm.That is all the news from your gillie and the Waterville fishery and remember if you want a day by day report you can contact our manger Mr John Murphy @ WWW.Loughcurrane.com No Spin No Fly’s just Facts.
