Tried for some whiting on hardbodies but only got this. Anyone know what it is? (apart from very small and hungry).

banded grunter, pain in the arse spiky bloody things, not even bait-worthy
I took one of them home to start the new salt aquarium ecology going, and he was returned from whence he came ( kids had named him by then, so what else could I do?)
At least I found a purpose for it, there wouldn't be any other I don't think.

I think it is a crescent perch. I have caught a few of them while whiting fishing.

not a banded grunter i have one in my fish tank and they are everywhere around mt isa. banded trumpetor ill say
wacked one on live one day in eli creek 70+ dusky nailed it must of been hungry or fluke, trial and error.
its a trumpetor to me... not sure which one though
Dunno, I've caught heaps of them at Nudgee though seem to love Prawns..
