Heading up to Port Douglas for a few days at the end of the week.
Has anyone fished PD, any tips, advice or marks?

Also, can anyone reccomend some good accommodation for 4 blokes. We want to try and stay away from backpackers for security (stay away from backpacker accom not the backpackers themselves)

    Re: Port Douglas

I went up PD last year only got a couple of hrs of fishing in as I was with the wife, brother in-law and his missus and they don’t fish, however even the 2 hrs I spent was good, maybe a few of the locals on here will help more but this is what I found.

Boat hire is good $40 hr from the mariner no license require rods and tackle supplied, take some good insect repellent as the midgies bite. A map is supplied with the spots to go.

Accommodation is plentiful we went on wotif.com.au and got a deal for a resort a little way out of town, there is a bus that will pick you up run you into town and get you home again it runs all day so is good for the pub trips

One thing to do and I recon this is a must, go scrubber diving on the reef you don’t need a license and it s the best time iv ever had, just book on one of the reef explore tours and they do the rest.

Cheers Stu, I reckon we'll hit the marina. Apparently there's a few barra kicking about willing to smash live herring.

The accom side of things has been taken care off, only an 800m stagger back from the main strip.
