    Hi guys it been a long time since I last was here.
    But I have a Question , What month is not good for Catching Crabs
    I know there some month of the year when the crabs are sheding there shells and have no meat in them If you know please share this information with me Thanks Harry

    Cabfisher, the general rule with crabs is "you wont catch crabs in any month with out an "R" in it . ie May,June,July and August, hope this helps ,Snas

    Harry, mudcrabs are available virtually all year round. The saying about the months without an R in them is absolute hogwash. If it were in any way true, the pros would all have their pots pulled out for May, June, July and August. As we all know, they fish pretty much right the way through.

    Winter time the quantity of crabs generally lessens, but the quality is usually better, ie: fuller crabs.

    Agree with Dave on this one. They can be a bit more elusive in winter as the lower temperatures tend to slow them down. Its also worth noting that crabs rarely mault in winter. Just after winter is the worst time as the start becoming more active and feeding more, which results in maulting so they can grow.
