    Running Creek Rathdowney

    Hi Folks

Ran into a fellow one night who mentioned the fishing in Running Creek at Rathdowney is pretty good.

With the likelihood of the fan blowing this weekend a quiet fish in a creek will be a good option.

Can anybody give us a couple of pointers? Happy to explore but just looking for a starting point.

    Cheers

    Hi Budgebass,
The Carpbusters and the Kyogle groups have been stocking the creek for a few years. The fishing can be quiet good in there at times, although access can be a bit of a issue.

Also, with the floods that they had out there earlier this year, the majority of the fish would have been swept down stream and many are still in the brackish reaches of the Albert and Logan Rivers. On the Albert there is a weir that the fish cant traverse once on the saltwater side.

The fishing used to be good out in those little creeks, and its a pretty place. Well worth a drive even if you dont catch a fish.

    Cheers,
    Matt

If you head down along the Lyons Road heading towards crossing the border there is another creek the road follows for a while. It is not Running Creek I do not think but it has some nice bass in there for small waters. I caught two there about 3 yrs ago after seeing one crossing a pool while driving the road. Worth a Look I said to myself and soon hooked up on two from successive pools.

(live grasshoppers unweighted are the go)

    Jack.
