PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant VBA_SCRIPT - assumed 'VBA_SCRIPT' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in ..../includes/functions_navigation.php(802) : eval()'d code on line 1 Marine radio in the bush?
Curiosity begs me to ask does anyone use a radio on the freshwater spots to log in or tell someone where you're at? What types are in use? And what getting a radio operators certificate to get one for VHF - how easy it is to get one, and would you bother... never thought about you in the past.. maybe it's time..
do you mean the impoundments?
I am sure people do use them in the dams/impoundments on occassion, but if your boat breaks down, at least you are not out in the open ocean in big seas. Impoundments are usually smaller scale and there would likely be a few other boats around to help ya if you get stuck. Of course, always worth having some form of communication anywhere you go
Plenty of us use VHF on the dams to communicate. You are not going to get lost at sea but wouldn't be the first poor bastard to break down. It is a bloody long paddle from the far end of Awoonga.
No license, no nonsense, just go and buy a hand held one, pref a 5 amp.
