    massive flattie

went out yesterday with a mate troy (blue mako) to chase some bream in the tweed. the tides wernt to good but we managed to still get some good fish.
using smal surfce lures and stick baits we caught alot of fish between 25-29cm fork, nothing speciel but was good fun.
i had a nice size tailor smash my surface lure and after a very nervious fight with 3lb leader and a $20 lure the fish was i the net and then it bit me off! luckey.....
came back in early to stock up on some new lures and we went off again at dusk were we had a few giant herring smash our lures but didnt hook up.
when i finally hooked one it busted me off pritty quickely.
when it got dark we tried for trevally on poppers without success so we switched over to plastics were i caught 1 small golden trev. a few casts laterthe small chppers were still biteing the tails of the plastic and before we were bout to go home i felt a solid tap on the drop so i struck and felt a massive weight and i could feel the huge head shakes. since i only had 12lb leader i was pritty nervious as i could feel the teath rasping down the leader after a bit of a fight troy just went down and jumped into the water to get the flattie!!
since we were only 2 min from home i quickly drove back to get the brag mat and camera while troy held the fish in the water.
when i got back we put her onto the matt and i finally had a new PB flattie of 91cm!
a few quick pics and we carefully released her.
    happy days

Nice fish Nathan - that will make the boss a bit edgy.

Well done on landing such a solid fish land-based.

I wonder if you ever get a bigger PB than that - maybe not in this life time - I would be at least double your age and never caught one of that size..... ever. Enjoy the moment Bremnut, well done!
