bugger ey, fishing the poppers can be so frustrating, mayb next time
i fished the mouth of maroochy sunday arvo trying to get a whitting on popper. i worked the hole place 4 hours with only a few rizes and missed hits untill just as the sun was going down i got slamed by a big one (40cm eazy) and hey hey it hooked up yess, i fort the fish to the bank only to have it drop off at the last second. grrrrrrrrrr sh$t f_-$% bloody f%$^ mongrell fish, i was pritty cut and i could not get a nother one to hook up so i turned my attention to some more stinken bream. on the first cast i was nailed by a stonker bream again eazy in the 40's and half way in and he crushes the trebble on the wee pop r and gets away, nooooooo no no no no. the next few casts and i was on again but to a baby, yes im on the board. i then got 2 more on the pop r about 25cm but the pics did not turn out to well. i them got smashed again by a nother monster but it could not find the hooks even after hitting it about 6 times, so my hart was in my mouth most of the time untill the fish wised up and i had to go home.

Ah well Sh&! happens at least you werent throw and having nothing follow or have a go at it...

nuggstar, if your keen for a TING on a popper head further up to currimundi lake either early morn or arvy when the wind dies down i walk the north side bank from the car park out towards the mouth flickin over the yabby flats there i get'm all the time, the new eco gear prawn lure is a demon especialy if you can jag some glassy water!! cheers JAYVEE

Keep trying nugg. They can be very frustrating to hook on poppers at times. But they can inhale them on occasions also. Super sharp owner size 10 trebbles on the pop'rs are a good investment too. Ben

nice work nuggstar.... have you fished chambers isalnd for whiting? the eastern end used to fish good years ago for tings and what about the plaza eatery at lunch time it`s a frenzy of bream in there duno if they`d appreciate someone flicking lures though? cheers Andrew
i have never tryed to target them as i suck at locating them. the only place i have found them was at the cod hole one day and i could not land them on my weak bream gear, i got busted off quite a few times and i know they where jew as i got one up to the surface befor it did me on the pilong. id love to target them but i have no idear what im doing and im landbased . if ya keen to show me how to get them, id love that verry much just pm me and we can t something up

i was planing on going there (chambers) this weekend to try there on the tings. and yes i no all about the plaza, hehe thats where i got that bream in the pic.

bad luck mate at least you got out for a fish they will be bigger next time.
