Bribie bridge and Mission Point. Help please?
Hi all
My daughter and I went to have a look at some spots at Bribie today in the little RAV 4. Just a reccie to check out possible places to fish, camp etc. Went to the info centre, they told us to go to the rangers station at White Patch. Ranger says I must go to Bongaree Caravan Park to get a permit. I wish the info centre had have told me that first. Anyhow we get the permit and off we go. It was Mission Point that had me intrigued, but after looking at Poverty Point I learned that I can't drive to Mission. Boat access only. Bugger! Has anyone fished there or camped? Is it ok with the boat etc?
Also, I've never fished the Bribie bridge but we are keen now to give it a go as we settle into the area and begin to stretch our wings. Could anyone please help with best tides, approx location, bait, expected catch etc? Sorry for all the questions, we are keen to boat even just one or two nice fish and none of us have ever caught snapper. Would you mind please shoving my nose in the right direction?
Thanks in advance
Dave

mission pt is a good camp toilet but you must take your own fresh water and firewood sandy beach at hightide for the boats good yabbie bank oppersite easer to launch at donnybrook for mission pt and fairly safe parking as the camp ground at donnybrook is nearly always full , bridge is best fished couple hours either side of high and low due to the amount of run that pumps in there, snapper, tailor and assorted fish there at this time of year

like shane has said dave, donnybrook is the starting point and head north from there. you'll be exploring for months. mission point is quite a good spot to camp or overnight. the mozzies and sandies can be pretty savage though just like anywhere along the coast.
PS. don't rule out a beach camping expedition either, now you've got the permit, if you find a good gutter the fishing on the surf side is not too bad either.
