Cool Peak to peak power? lowrance vs eagle

Ive been looking for some time at buying a new sounder or a gps combo, thinkig ng of importing it too to save some money. Ive been looking at either getting a LOWRANCE LMS-520C as a combo unit or a LOWRANCE X510C sounder and buying a handheld gps later on when i feel the need to have one. Ive also been looking at a humminbird matrix 47 3d but cant really justify the money even though 3d looks so good.

Ive also been looking at getting an eagle instead, as they cost less and have a higher resolution the lowrance of the same price range. Being built by lowrance i dont think the quality could be that much worse if at all but im not really sure. The only other real difference is the peak to peak power which i dont really understand.

Take the lowrance lms-520c has a resolution of 480x480 and peak to peak power of 2400 watts where as the eagle fishelite 640c which is about 50USD cheaper has a resolution of 640x480 but only a peak to peak power of 1500 watts. So whats the better unit? Any help would be appreciated

i'd go the lowrance. more power means better picture and the ability to see further into the water...
i wouldn't bother with a sounder and external gps unless you have a few boats and plan to go fishing in different places, but the 520 is a great sounder.

    R3volt,
just be careful with those units cause they are nitrogen filled so they cant be repaired only replaced! so if you do choose to import, any little problem you have you will have to send it back to the states and get it replaced while it is in warranty. where as say a humminbird 787 there is techs hear that can repair them even if it is a little fee it prob works out the same by the time you pay for postage. i guess what im trying to say is its totaly your choice to import if you want but it might be safer importing a unit that can be fixed in aussie if its a small problem like one of the buttons getting jamed inside the case to the point you cant use it anymore.

The more power the better if you want to go deep. But don't believe the advertisements. My Lowrance conked out at about a third to a half what the ads said in salt water.
Try to find someone with the same model you are ogling and ask what depth they find they read to.
