Thread: Does anyone feel bad when killing fish?

Re: Does anyone feel bad when killing fish?

    Feel for ya' Tigermullet!
I only kill what I'm going to eat.
Always make an effort to despatch as quickly as possible.
To be honest I personally don't like killing big fish, but then I prefer not to eat the big fellas either. Any jew over say 10 kg will go back if I think it will survive, otherwise it will get eaten.
Fortunately I don't catch many mulloway over 10kg, which suits me just fine.
Plenty of rays and sharks over that size though. Couldn't kill them with an axe, they swim away almost totally unaffected, chuckling to themselves, "ah, silly old bugger, gave him a workout!"
    Cheers!

I don't feel the slightest tingling of guilt or anything sinking the knife into a good fish that will be taken home and eaten. I don't like waste though, and I don't have much time for killing for the sake of killing. One guy here stated something along the lines of not having a problem if it is a "mongrel" fish. What's a mongrel fish??? Just one that you don't like or isn't good to eat?? So you kill it because you don't like it?? That is something I seriously object to, and no I'm not green and I don't sleep with trees.

I see a mongrel fish if it is just a pain in the you know what,it isn't as though i don't like them fish and kill them for fun,i'm not going to waste a fish,i'm sorry for going too far using them words

Yep, I feel bad. That's why I'll only keep fish I have a need for and kill them as quickly as possible. The iki jime method is well regarded.

    Cheers
