    Cania

This was my first trip to Cania and even though the fishing was slow, the awesome surroundings countered for that. The entire camp ground set up just blew me away. I could have dumped the family there and fished all day knowing they would be busy until I came back. The family however were left at home with the shitty weather that fell over the Gold coast for the week.
Fishing with Greeny is always an education in things I have never done before, for example the camping equipment he has acuminated over the years had us camped in total comfort, and for a total price that most people could afford. Camp stretchers, folding everything all fitting into his boat for the trip, and easy to pack when it was time to go.
    The fishing
The first afternoons fishing was to say the least slow with only a hand full of very skinny Bass coming to the boat. I lost a XOS Toga which we spotted rolling around the surface outside a small bay. Cranking the Spinnerbait past his face produced an instant result that all came apart on the first jump. Later that afternoon a surface bite started around any shallow grass. The first cast of my new god lure produced a small Toga, which tried to swallow and digest my lure before I could wind up the slack he created when he shot under the boat after the strike. The third Toga later took my lure away from me and kept jumping for another 10 minutes just to piss me off. Greeny naturally assumed since I got two of these lures I would just tie on the other one, no not at all, it was back on the Gold coast. I coped heaps after that. Most Bass took Spinnerbaits, all except four which eat miscellaneous lures.
All up we boated about 75 fish, including 2 Yellows 1 Spangled and 8 Toga. The biggest Bass went to David on the last morning at 45cm, most bass averaged the high thirties into the forties. Some of the Bass resembled a skeleton covered in skin. It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot more Bass died this winter considering their poor current condition.
Once again I’m sorry I can’t show my lures, they are just so hard to get at the moment I have to protect my supply.

Good to hear your report Mitch. It is sure nice to fish some new surroundings and its always nice to have a trip away. How long were you fishing for at Cania? Nice looking Toga there, they are certainly a nice by catch of bass fishing at many dams.

Are your new "god" lures really that good?

    -cheers Richard-

    Mitch-
just opened my tackle box and all my lures are a blurred mess and faded. Just like your pics
The secret Japanese lure that killed the pig was just incredible- can't wait to try them here. Why do they call these lures after men's undergarments?

Nah mate...there so many fish in here that we quite often fish blind folded and with one hand behind our backs to give the bass a bit of a chance
