    Re: Gunnedah

Finally I have found the perfect area to fish and have started to not only see but catch awesome reps of the Eastern Cod and Yellowbelly ,these are magnificent fish and are well worth the time and effort. Not going to give up any details of the spots yet but within 30klm of Glen Innnes in some of the most pristine and unspoilt water that I have seen for a long time. This is a fat healthy fish that took a 1/2 oz Twin Spin AusSpin lure late in the afternon whilst targetting the resident Yellowbelly population.Blueacres Lamiglas EXS703PBA ,Daiwa sol 3000 with 15lb fireline and 6lb leader. You could literally sight fish these guys and they hit like a steam train.Acc to the Freshwater fishing guide they are an endangered species. pics to follow .

    Re fishing spots arpound Gunnedah,

I fished there years ago, carp were just becomming a pain. However, we would catch shrimp at Carrol Gap on the way to Keepit and then fish right on dusk from the bank at the sports and rec, camp on the Manilla side of Keepit.
1/0 hook 350mm to a match-stick and small pea sinker. Load a live Shrimp cast out and count to 3 before slow retrieve. Works for Yellow Belly
