    Bass and Bream on Spinnerbaits

Headed out to spot x witch is on the Gold Coast early this morning. Got out on the water by 5.30am when it was still pretty dark.
The initial plan was to cast surface lures around the edges but we had no success for 40 minutes or so.
Then we decided to switch to Spinnerbaits and within a couple minutes the fish were constantly smacking them and we landed 5 or so bass all were quite small around the 20-30cm mark.
So we started trolling our Spinnerbaits really close into the weed edges the bass were loving then landed a nice fat 43cm bass. (picture below)
then all of a sudden my mate is on and pulls in this random big bream 39cm (picture below) it was so unexpected as we were fishing totally fresh waters and have never seen bream in there before.
After that we landed a few more little bass and got another 37cm bream and a 41cm bass.
After about 9:00am the big bass went of the bit and could not stop catching all these little 15-20cm bass aggressive little critters smacking quit large Spinnerbaits.
So we packed it in and headed back with around 15-20 bass caught and just the two bream all fish were caught casting and trolling Spinnerbaits even the two bream really weird.

Interesting post ..... Bream will push up river ! ....... but usually after/during a prolonged dry spell
Bass will move down prior / during spawning! ( a little early though)

Sounds like a fun session Bronson. Nice looking bass and the bream were a pleasant surprise. After all the rain you would expect the bream to be further down. Doesnt matter you enjoyed catching them anyway - Just think what else might be in there!

    Bronson,

About 15 years ago a mate and I used to get mud crabs in that waterway. Its good to see you catching a few bream in there now,it beats getting bass all day.

    Hi Bronson,
