NPD PB Bass

Headed up North Pine Dam for a cast this morning. Braved the long grass and water in a pair of thongs and boardies and was casting a white and light purple spinner around. Was having no luck and decided one more cast for good luck.

Just after the spinner hit the water it was smashed. Fish ran me around for a bit then straight into the grass. Was completely snagged up and no matter how much i gave it i couldnt get it free. Decided in the end to tuck the rod under the arm and grabb the line and just pull it till it busted off. Ended up tearing the grass out and dragging in about 10kg of the stuff. then i noticed a tail in amongst it. dropped the line and grabbed the rod and started to wind just as the fish took one last run.

Ended up landing a PB bass. about 51-52 to the fork and a great golden black colour. Was bloody stoked and took a few pictures and let him go to catch another day. After a fish that good i knew i wasnt gonna top it so headed off.

Photos are a bit rubbish because they are from my phone-left the camera at home.

On ya bruza!
I had a flick around last Saturday, I too was in boardies & croc's. Felt like Indiana Jones!!!! Rigged up a 5" Berkley Power Minnow Texas-style and tried some of the weeds but to no avail.
A very good effort there mate. See, that last cast is the one that produces!

Nice one there bruza... hey was anyone there on sunday?.. had some idiots at mcgavs firing there slingshots near us... i got pissed off and nearly ran back to the car to get the machete but instead opted for the polite thing and tried to get the number for the ranger but when they saw me on the phone they scooted off.. freakin losers...

Hmmmm, must remember to take the old potato cannon when I go down there next time.... I made a removable barrel that a golf ball fits into perfectly.... that'll make the f***rs dance!
